Clarington and DocuPet Launch By-Law Awareness Program

Posted on Tuesday October 03, 2017

Beginning January 2018, community representatives from DocuPet will go door-to-door in an ongoing campaign to educate residents about licensing their pets. DocuPet community representatives will provide information about Clarington's licensing program and collect information about residing pets. Homes with licensed pets will not be visited.

DocuPet representatives will not collect money or sell licences at the door, and all representatives will wear visible identification bearing their first name, photo, and the DocuPet logo.

Residents living in Clarington must purchase an annual pet licence for their cat or dog and can do so by:

  1. Going online to Clarington.docupet.com and paying with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, VISA Debit, or Discover

  2. Calling DocuPet at 1-855-249-1370 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and paying with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, VISA Debit, or Discover

  3. Going in person to the Municipal Law Enforcement Office located at 2611 Trulls Road, Courtice (inside Fire Station 4), open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  4. Going in person to the Municipal Administrative Centre located at 40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville, open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  5. Going in person to the Clarington Animal Shelter located at 33 Lake Road, Bowmanville, open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The cost to license a pet in the Municipality of Clarington ranges from $15 for microchipped and sterilized pets to $40 for intact pets. Licences are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. Licence fees largely support the Municipality's animal control service.

Approximately 8 to 10 business days after licensing, pet owners will receive a pet tag, a $25 Ren’s Pets Depot coupon and DocuPet Rewards Cards in the mail.

DocuPet provides Lost and Found pet services to all licensed pets as well as access to their Rewards Program offering deals and discounts on local and online products and services.
