For the 2010 Municipal Elections, the Municipality of Clarington will be voting at designated Voting Locations. Ballots will no longer be mailed to your home!
The Good Government Act, 2009 was recently enacted. This Act amends various sections of the Municipal Elections Act. Voting Day is now October 25th and not in November as has been for several elections.
Compliance Audit Committee
Section 81.1 (1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended, requires every municipality to establish a Compliance Audit Committee. The mandate of the Committee is to review applications for a compliance audit of any candidate who ran for election and decide whether the application should be granted or rejected. Should the application be granted, the Committee shall appoint an auditor to conduct the compliance audit, review the auditor’s report and commence a legal proceeding against the candidate or make a finding that there were no reasonable grounds for the application. Further information regarding the Compliance Audit Committee is set out in Staff Report CLD-012-10. If you are interested in serving on the Municipality’s Compliance Audit Committee, please complete the application form and submit it to the Municipal Clerk’s Department by June 25, 2010.
