The Municipality of Clarington, Community Service Department is looking for energetic, active and knowledgeable staff to provide leadership and supervision in a safe and enjoyable environment for our Summer Camp Programs. Summer Camp Supervisors will supervise camp staff while working to schedule, organize, and implement daily program activities. Summer Camps employment would be from May 25 to September 1, 2010. 

Qualifications

1. Candidates must have 2 years of recreation program supervisory experience or equivalent experience.

2. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Experience working with children and youth in a camp
setting is required.

3. Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification.

4. Successful candidates will be required to complete a training period prior to camp

5. Strong customer service skills.

6. High 5 certificate in Principles of Healthy Child Development.

7. Valid “G” driver’s license and current automobile insurance

8. Access to a reliable vehicle

Duties

1.   Assist Recreation Coordinator & Programmer in implementing camp programs

2.   Supervision and organization of activities, special events and field trips

3. Supervision of counsellors and volunteers.

4. Assist in the delivery of all mandatory training and meetings.

5. Oversee daily camp activities at multiple locations.

6. Provide support, guidance and feedback to staff.

7. Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.

8. Collect daily attendance records and make any necessary follow up calls.

9. Other duties as assigned.


A satisfactory, current (within last 180 days), Criminal Records Check (“CPIC”) will be required at time of interview from a Canadian Police Information Centre.

Rate of Pay - $16.22/hr
