The Municipality of Clarington, Community Service Department is looking for energetic, active and knowledgeable staff to provide leadership and supervision in a safe and enjoyable environment for our Summer Camps. Our summer camps operate July 5 through August 27, 2010. The Municipality offers a variety of camp programs including; Sports camp, Trip camp, Eco-camp, Kinder camp, Arts camp, Day camps, Senior Sports camp, Outdoor Adventure camp, Mobile Playground and Leadership camp. As a new initiative we are offering a one week French camp, candidates who are fluent in both French and English should indicate this on their application.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be 16 years of age and have recreation program experience or equivalent experience.
- Previous work with children or day camp experience would be an asset.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification.
- High 5 certificate in Principles of Healthy Child Development.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a training period prior to camp
- Strong customer service skills.

Duties
- Program planning and implementation of daily camp activities and events.
- Daily supervision and interaction with camp participants on-site as well as on field trips.
- Ensure the safety of all participants at all times.
- Collect accurate attendance figures daily and maintain weekly statistics.
- Assist with supervision of volunteers.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and supervisors.
- Other duties as assigned.

A satisfactory, current (within last 180 days), Criminal Records Check (“CPIC”) will be required
at time of interview from a Canadian Police Information Centre.
Rate of Pay - $10.57/hr
