OPERATIONS

This Department is responsible for maintaining the Municipality's infrastructure including:
  • roadways
  • bridges
  • sidewalks
  • streetlights
  • storm sewers
  • drainage facilities
  • grass cutting

The Operations Department also looks after the Municipality's winter program which includes snow plowing, street snow removal, sidewalk snow removal and the Sidewalk & Windrow Snow Clearing program for Seniors and Disabled individuals.


  The Province of Ontario is providing municipalities with $1.1 billion in additional funding to support infrastructure investments through the Investing in Ontario Act, 2008. The Municipality of Clarington is the recipient of $3.4 Million in funding to off-set the cost of projects such as:

Bowmanville Museum – to be complete by the end of the year
Work required to restore the balcony and eavestrough, the verandah roof, some painting

Municipal Administrative Centre - in progress
Resurfacing of the concrete steps, ramp and terrazzo landings for safety issues and to restore the resurfaced areas to the original condition.  Railings to be replaced to meet current building code requirements/safety standards

Orono Arena – project complete (new roof)
Roof was identified as requiring complete replacement due to its rapidly deteriorating condition

Orono Library – in progress with some projects to be completed 2010
Roof and eavestrough to be replaced, new windows and painting
