& culverts, special events requiring the use of
a municipal right-of-way)
• Transportation planning and traffic impact studies
relating to secondary plans, draft plans and individual
site plans

Traffic Division -
conducts studies to determine the needs and warrants
for traffic controls and maintains sign inventories
to ensure the safety of the traveling public. Traffic
on municipal roads, streets and sidewalks is governed
by a series of municipal by-laws and the Ontario Highway
Traffic Act. Traffic Division staff work closely with

Traffic Management Advisory Committee (CTMAC) –
Volunteer community members work closely with staff,
Council, Durham Region Traffic and Durham Regional Police
to provide a residents perspective on traffic issues
