1. How do I get a copy of the current Recreation and Leisure Guide?
| The Guide is delivered four times a year with the Clarington This Week newspaper, one and a half weeks prior to the next Aquatic registration date. You can pick up a copy at any recreation facility, library, Tourism office and at the Municipal Administrative Centre. The guide is available online on the Municipal homepage and on the Community Services webpage. |
2. How do I register for recreation programs?

You can register online at www.claringtoneazyreg.ca , by phone at 905-623-3299 or in person at any of our recreation facilities. First time registrants will need to obtain a Personal Barcode for each person registering and one Family Account Number that is shared by your family. These barcodes can be obtained by contacting any of our recreation facilities or by emailing communityservices@clarington.net. |

To book the ice or dry floor pad at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex,
Darlington Sports Centre or South Courtice Arena, or the indoor soccer field/outdoor lacrosse bowl at the Bowmanville Indoor Soccer/Lacrosse Bowl , call or drop into the Customer Service Offices at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex (905-623-5728) or the South Courtice Arena (905-435-1061). A customer service representative will be glad to check availability at any of the above facilities and book them for you. In order to book the above facilities, full payment at the time of booking and a signed contract is required. |
5. How do I go about renting the swimming pools?
| To rent the swimming pools at Courtice Community Complex (905-404-1525), Newcastle & District Recreation Complex (905-987-5667) or Clarington Fitness Centre (905-623-3392), call or drop into the Customer Service Offices at any of the above facilities. A customer service representative will be glad to check availability and book them for you. In order to book the above facilities, full payment at the time of booking and a signed contract is required. Admission standards for public pools apply to all pool rentals. 6. How do I book a meeting room, program room or gymnasium?
| To book a meeting room, program room or gymnasium, call or drop into the Customer Service Offices at the Garnet B. 7. How do I book a banquet facility?
| To book a banquet facility at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex (905-623-5728) or the Courtice Community Complex (905-404-1525), call or drop in to either facility. A customer service representative will be glad to check availability at any of the above facilities and book them for you. A 50% payment will be required at the time of booking, with the remaining amount due one month prior to the event. 9. How do I find the location and amenities of the recreation facilities?
10. How do I book a birthday party package? What packages are available?
| We offer a range of options for birthday parties, including recreation birthday party packages, pool, gymnasium and room rentals. The recreation packages are run by our recreation staff. They are held at both the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex (905-987-5667) and the South Courtice Arena (905-435-1061) in the activity /craft room and the gymnasium and there are currently a variety of package options. All of our birthday party packages can accommodate a maximum of 16 children. Birthday parties should be booked at least one week in advance and are held on Saturday and Sunday from12:30 – 2:30pm or 3:00-5:00pm. Renting the pool for a birthday party is another option. The pools available for rent are located at the Courtice Community Complex (905-404-1525), Newcastle & District Recreation Complex (905-987-5667) and the Clarington Fitness Centre (905-623-3392). The pool rental times are Saturday and Sunday between 4:00pm-6:00pm and include a variety of facilities such as main pool, teaching (small) pool, slide and more. The pool rental rates vary on the type of facilities you would like to use. The Newcastle & District Recreation Complex (905-987-5667) and the South Courtice Arena (905-435-1061) have a gymnasium that can also be rented for birthday parties (depending on availability). The gymnasium at the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex can be rented as a half gym or a full gym and can be used for a multitude of activities from volleyball, basketball, dodgeball or whatever games you choose to use the space for excluding floor hockey. Gymnasium rentals include nets; all you have to do is supply the balls and games. Fees vary on the half or full gym rental. There are also rooms available at each facility for parties or to include with your pool or gymnasium rental (depending on availability). If you need a spot to host your party or are looking for a space to have cake and gifts after your gym/pool rental, we have the space for you! Fees depend on facility and room size. A customer service representative will be glad to check availability at any of the above facilities and book them for you. 11. How do I prepare my child for camp each day?
| Each day you need to send your child with weather appropriate clothing for both indoors and outdoors. For March Break and winter PA Day camps this includes snow gear (hat, mittens, scarf, snowpants, warm jacket, boots) as well as indoor shoes. In the summer, all campers must bring a hat and sunscreen for outdoor activities. A healthy peanut-free lunch must also be sent each day, along with drinks, and both a morning and afternoon snack. On swimming days your child should come prepared with a bathing suit, towel, and swim card (if they have one). Kinder campers should be sent with a change of clothing each day. |

14. How do I obtain an application for Food Safety approval by the
Regional Health Department, since our organization is planning
to serve and/or sell food at a Community Event?
15. How do I withdraw from a program?
| The Community Services Department must receive all requests to withdraw from a program in writing prior to the second class, with the exception of specialty classes (Aquatic Leadership, First Aid, CPR and High Five-Principles of Healthy Child Development and Day Camps) which must be received a minimum of three days prior to the first class. Please stop by a recreation facility to complete a Program Cancellation Form, or email communityservices@clarington.net to have one emailed to you. Medical refund requests will be assessed on an individual basis, upon receipt of a medical note and Program Cancellation Form. Once approved, a credit may be left on the account for the full/pro-rated amount for future registrations (no administration fee). Should you prefer a refund, a $10 cancellation fee per registration will apply. Please see next question for How do I apply for a refund? |
16. How do I apply for a refund for a program? Do I qualify?
| The Community Services Department must receive all requests for cancellation and/or refund in writing. Please stop by a recreation facility to complete a Program Cancellation Form, or email communityservices@clarington.net to have one emailed to you. If your cancellation for a program is approved and you would like to request a refund, a cancellation fee of $10.00 per registration will apply. A credit may be left on the account for the full/pro-rated amount for future registrations (no administration fee). 17. How do I get the third child discount?
| Third and subsequent children (immediate family only) are eligible for a 50% reduction applied to the lowest rate. When using EazyReg please contact the facility to arrange for the adjustment. |

19. How do I apply to work at a recreation facility in Clarington?
