Winter Program. . .

Courtesy Sand Box
Sand is available for residents of Clarington at the Hampton Operations Centre, 2320 Taunton Road and the Orono Operation Centre, 3585 Taunton Road, to be used on their residential sidewalks and driveways. At no time shall this sand be available for use by businesses.

Snow Plowing & Street Snow Removal
Snow removal is done throughout the Bowmanville, Newcastle and Orono Business Improvement Areas (BIA's) when the depth of snow at the curb reaches 18". Snow removal is also performed in areas with no boulevard between the sidewalk and the road or when there is inadequate storage space. This program commences when all BIA's are cleared and when all roads are in good condition.

Sidewalk Snow Removal
Sidewalk clearing must be completed within 12 hours from when the snow fall stops. It is the owners and tenants responsibility for removing ice and snow accumulated from public sidewalks that are adjacent to their property. If the sidewalks are not cleared, the By-law will be enforced, snow and ice removed and costs will be charged back to the property owner.
