Clarington January 15, 2019/- Clarington Council voted 4-3 to opt in and allow privately-owned cannabis retail stores to operate within its limits. The Municipality will advise the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) of its decision and will be eligible to host potentially one of six stores slated to open within the GTA.

Clarington Emergency and Fire Services responded to a house fire in Bowmanville Clarington January 14, 2019/- Clarington Emergency and Fire Services responded to a house fire in Bowmanville, in the Liberty Street and Concession Street East area. Nearby residents called for help at 11:59 a.m. today, reporting visible smoke.
When fire crews arrived, they found the fire isolated to the second storey, a bedroom upstairs. No one was home, and there were no injuries sustained. Five fire trucks responded, including the aerial truck with around 20 firefighters.

Garnet B. Rickard parking lot Clarington December 17, 2018/- The Municipality of Clarington has completed a series of improvements to the parking lot at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex and Fire Station 1. The changes made to the parking lot focus on accessibility, pedestrian safety and some eco-friendly features.
