Clarington Council is asking to join Ontario’s newly-created Flood Task Force. In a unanimous resolution, Council asked the Province to consider providing adequate funding to support flood mitigation efforts and safety planning for vulnerable communities prone to flooding. Council also requested that the Flood Task Force organize a public meeting in Clarington to hear directly from residents impacted by flooding.

Whitby, Ont.  – On Friday, May 17, Metrolinx hosted a briefing with municipal representatives—from Durham Region, Clarington, Oshawa and Whitby—to discuss four options now being proposed by Metrolinx for the GO Lakeshore East Extension (GO train service, from Oshawa into Bowmanville).
During this meeting, all four municipalities confirmed their preference for Option 1, which extends GO train service to north of Highway 401 in Oshawa and Clarington.

Clarington Emergency and Fire Services responded to a house fire in Bowmanville overnight. The call came in at 11:11 p.m, Wednesday night. Crews were able to extinguish the small contents fire quickly and cleared the scene within an hour.
A vigilant neighbour smelled smoke and acted quickly helping the owner to leave the home and notifying Emergency Services. The homeowner was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and some localized burns. The neighbour was also...

Clarington March 4, 2019 – The Municipality of Clarington has received $125,000 from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) climate change staff grant program to help formulate a plan that responds to climate change and reduces its effect on the community.
