Clarington Walks

Registration continues for summer programs. Check back often as more programs become available throughout the summer. New sessions of outdoor fitness classes and 55+ Active Adults programs begin on July 26. Registration is available beginning June 30 at 7 a.m. at

Our Orono Outdoor pool is open for pre-booked swim sessions. Register each Wednesday for the following week. A maximum of 20 swimmers will be allowed at each session. Aquafit will start on July 26, and swimming lessons will begin in August once Clarington moves into Step Three of the Province’s three-step Roadmap to Reopen.

Be active year round

To help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep you safe, we have implemented the following changes:

  • Walking will be allowed during designated times in the gymnasium at the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex. Walking in the hall and corridors of facilities is not allowed.
  • Pre-registration is required before coming to the facility. Participants must complete a screening process when they arrive.
  • Masks must be worn until you start walking in the program space. Participants must ensure they are at least three metres from others while walking. Capacity limits will be enforced to help meet physical distancing requirements.

 How to register
  • Register online at or call 905-623-3379 ext. 2552.
  • Registration opens each Thursday at 9 a.m. for the upcoming week Friday through Thursday.
  • If you cannot attend your registered class, please contact us to withdraw or transfer at least one day in advance. If you need assistance, you can reach our team Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 905-623-3379 ext. 2552. Those who register for classes and do not show up may lose the ability to pre-register in the future
 Pre-screening on arrival
  • Please arrive no more than 10 minutes ahead of your scheduled time and line up in designated spots outside of the facility. Everyone arriving at the facility will be required to undergo a screening process before being admitted.
 Program guidelines
  • Participants should wear clean indoor shoes with non-marking soles.
  • Bring as little as possible to the facility. There will be no access to change rooms at this time.
  • Due to the fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, schedules and protocols are subject to change based on new advice from local health officials and ongoing evaluation.
