Current swim schedule

View our admission standards to ensure you meet supervision requirements.


  • March 13: Public/Lane Swim from 1 to 2 p.m. at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex
  • March 14: Special Needs Swim from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex
  • April 2: Adult/Lane Swim from 7:15 to 8:45 a.m. at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex and Public/Lane Swim from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre.
  • June 12 to 30: Diane Hamre Recreation Complex sauna/whirlpool and swimming pools will be closed for maintenance
  • Pool Share may occur during the following swims for Leadership courses: all swims at Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre on May 5, 6, 26 and 27, June 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 22, 23 and 24.
Swimming fees

The following table displays the fees for swimming at our facilities. Prices are in effect until August 31, 2018. Fees do not include applicable taxes.

  • Family and group* rates include a maximum of five people, including a maximum of two adults.
  • Preschool children (3 years and younger) are admitted free when accompanied by a participating adult or guardian aged 14 years and older.
  • For family memberships, family members must live in the same household.
  • Non-residents add 10 per cent surcharge to membership rates.
  • Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable
  • Gift certificates are non-refundable
  • Pre-authorized payment plans are available on Annual memberships.
Admission standards for public pools

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of children using the facility during public and family swims, the following admission standards are in place. Supervision/Ratio requirements will be strictly upheld. When in doubt, please call ahead.

All swimmers must wear appropriate swimming attire (PDF).

Always accompanied *

If any children in the group are 5 years and under, a ratio of 2:1 for your group, regardless of age, is required.

6 to 9 years

4 children : 1 caregiver

If any children in the group are 5 years and under, a ratio of 2:1 for your group, regardless of age, is required.

6 or 7 years and cannot pass swim test

Guardian must remain in the pool

Children must complete the swim test each time.

Parent or guardian must remain in the pool.

8 or 9 years and can pass the swim test

No supervision required

Children who complete the swim test will receive a facility swim test card.

10 years or older

No supervision required

Children will be required to pass the facility swim test in order to swim in the deep end and use the slide at the Courtice Community Complex.

* Always Accompanied: Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who is at least 14 years of age and is responsible for their direct supervision.

Caregiver must be in bathing attire, and within arms reach of the child/children at all times, both in and out of the water.

Guardians or group leaders: Must be at least 14 years of age, and are responsible for the children in their care while in the facility and must directly supervise (in the water) the children at all times.

Facility swim test criteria
To pass the swim test, you must swim continuously on your front, two widths of the pool in a comfortable manner. Face/head must submerge and body must stay near horizontal during the test.

Swim Descriptions
Swim TypeSwim Description
Adult 18 years of age and older. Two lanes for lengths swimming plus one open lane for exercising.
Adult / Lane Swim Two lanes for lengths swimming, one open lane. Youth may attend to swim lengths only.
Lane All ages. Slow, medium, fast lanes. All swimmers must be continuously swimming lengths.
Public All ages. Slide open during specified swims only. Please see admission standards for guidelines. Swim test required by youth for use of slide and to swim in deep end.
Public / Lane Swim Pool shared between public and lane swimmers. Recreational swim space will be a minimum of three lanes. Swim fins and hand paddles not permitted.
Special Needs Swim Recreational Swim open to people with physical and/or developmental disabilities with their caregiver; caregivers attend free of charge.

Swim set-up at the discretion of the Head Lifeguard on duty. Pool space will be assigned based on need.
