Swimming during a pandemic - what you need to know
Guidelines and rules for swimming during COVID-19 |
Please review the following guidelines and rules before registering for a swim time:
- Please arrive ten minutes before your registered swim time for pre-screening and to check in.
- Hands sanitizer is available at the screening station and on the pool deck.
- The pool capacity has been significantly reduced, as required by Public Health, to allow for physical distancing. You may be asked to swim in the main pool, for example, if the tot pool has reached its capacity.
- Viewing areas have a reduced capacity and will be standing area only to allow for proper physical distancing.
- Saunas, whirlpools, water slides and water features are closed at this time.
- Equipment for public use will not be provided at this time. We encourage you to bring your own, based on what is permitted during the swim type (see swim descriptions). Snorkels are not permitted as they encourage spitting of the mouth’s contents.
- Swim test bands will no longer be applied by staff. Parents/guardians or swimmers will be required to do this.
- Physical distancing is mandatory in addition to all other swimming rules.
- Swimmers will have limited access to lockers. Personal items brought to the pool, including valuables, should be limited. We ask that family members share a locker when possible.
- To assist with change room flow and to help maintain physical distancing, please come dressed with your swimwear under your clothes if possible. We also encourage you to shower at home after your swim.
- Masks must be worn during the screening process and as swimmers make their way through the facility to the change rooms. Masks are not required in the shower area of the change rooms or on the pool deck.
- At the end of your allotted swim time, exit the pool deck in a timely manner. This will allow staff to clean and disinfect the area before the next swim.
- If you need assistance to access the pool due to physical limitations, please bring a caregiver or support worker.
