Program refund policy

The Community Services Department must receive all requests for cancellations/refunds in writing using the appropriate form. Requests for specialty classes (Aquatic Leadership, Summer Session Aquatics Instruction (Monday to Friday), First Aid, CPR, High Five-Principles of Healthy Child Development and Day Camps) and workshops must be received by the Community Services Department a minimum of three business days prior to the first class. Community Services Birthday Parties are non-refundable. Programs with a value of $11.30 or less (after taxes) are considered non-refundable.

With the exception of specialty classes as described above any approved cancellation/refund requests received prior to the second class will be provided once pro-rated and a refund administration fee of $10 + HST has been charged.

Medical refund requests will be assessed at any point during the session, must be accompanied by a doctor’s note and will be prorated to the date all completed paperwork is received.

Program cancellations and waiting lists

We reserve the right to cancel any class or program that does not achieve minimum registration requirements. When possible, we will replace cancelled classes or programs with classes or programs that have a waiting list. If the Community Services Department is responsible for the cancellation, we will issue a full refund to all registrants. Only classes cancelled by the Community Services Department will be rescheduled when possible.

Third child discount

Clarington is committed to assisting families in financial need and have recently enhanced our Fee Assistance program to ensure everyone has access to recreation. As a result of this change, the Third Child Discount will be eliminated for programs taking place after September 1, 2019.

The Third Child Discount was originally introduced to provide assistance to families registering more than two children in recreation programs. Families who previously received the Third Child Discount and meet eligibility requirements for fee assistance, are welcome and encouraged to apply.

With these changes, we hope to achieve a more inclusive Clarington and provide support to families who face financial barriers to participating in recreation programs and services.
