Garbage and Recycling

The Region of Durham provides garbage, recycling and food waste collection services in Clarington. The Region also collects leaf and yard waste, bulky items, metal items, electronic waste, porcelain and batteries.

Where is the closest dump?

There are waste disposal sites in Oshawa, Port Perry and Brock. See the Region's website for hours of operation and waste disposal fees. Dispose of household hazardous at the Clarington Household Special Waste Depot, located at 1998 Bowmanville Avenue.

Do you have an item you need to throw out but not sure where it goes? Search the Region of Durham's "Know Before You Throw" online tool to determine how to dispose of your items.

Garbage bag tags

If you are setting out more than four garbage bags, you must attach a garbage bag tag to each bag over the four-bag limit. Purchase garbage bag tags online through the Region of Durham's website or by calling the Region's Waste Management Centre at 905-697-5300 or 1-800-667-5671.
