Parking Enforcement

On-Street Parking

Contact(s)

Parking Enforcement Officers enforce the Municipality of Clarington's Traffic By-law. In some instances, they also enforce parking on private property. The Traffic By-law regulates traffic and parking on highways, municipal streets, boulevards, sidewalks, and municipal property.

Winter parking regulations
  • You cannot park on any street between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. all year
  • You cannot park on the street during a snow event at any time of day or night. If you park on the street during a snow event, your vehicle may be towed. Parking on the street during a snow event can slow down snow clearing operations, and in some cases, it can stop all snow clearing on that street.
Temporary parking pass
Residents and visitors may request a temporary parking pass for up to seven days per calendar year, per licence plate.
Towed vehicles

Your vehicle can be towed if:

  • You have broken a parking by-law
  • Your vehicle has been abandoned, and is a safety hazard, or inconvenience to other motorists or pedestrians

If your vehicle has been towed, you must take the following steps before your vehicle is returned:

  1. Pay any outstanding parking infractions online or at the Municipal Clerk's Department
  2. Go to Durham Regional Police Services, located at 1998 Regional Rd. 57, Bowmanville or call 905-579-1520
  3. Durham Regional Police Services will provide an impound report to the vehicle owner
  4. Take the impound report to Bob's Towing, located at 2366 Holt Road, Bowmanville, 905-723-5219
  5. Once the applicable towing and impound fees have been paid, the vehicle is released from Bob's Towing Impound Lot.
School zone safety

Parking Enforcement Officers routinely patrol schools to enforce parking regulations. Parents should park safely at schools and obey 'No Parking' and 'No Stopping' signs. Leave bus stops for buses, and fire routes for emergency vehicles.

Boulevard parking

For your safety and the safety of the community, do not park on the boulevard portion of your driveway, if your driveway is located within 15 metres of an intersection. The boulevard is the portion of land between your property line and the road or curb. Cars parked in the boulevard, within 15 metres of an intersections, are parked illegally.
