Example of Accessible Parking PermitOnly vehicles with a valid accessible parking permit issued by Service Ontario can park in accessible parking spaces. The fine for illegally using a designated accessible parking space is $500 with an early payment option of $350.


Accessible parking permit holders or drivers (operating a vehicle to transport a person who has an accessible parking permit) may park without paying, where a fee is required for any parking space on a highway or in a municipal parking lot.

A permit holder or driver who displays a valid disabled parking permit is subject to all other parking regulations. For traffic regulations, see Clarington's Traffic By-law.

The permit:

  • Must have number and expiry date
  • Should be visibly displayed
  • Must not be altered or defaced, photocopied or reproduced
  • Privileges are not transferable
