Darlington Refurbishment

The Darlington nuclear station produces about 20 per cent of Ontario's electricity. Ontario Power Generation is working on the mid-life refurbishment of the station, which will extend the life of the station by 30 years.

In 2016, Ontario Power Generation began execution of the Darlington Refurbishment Project. The first of four units to be refurbished was returned to service in June 2020. Work on refurbishing the second unit (Unit 3) is now underway and targeted for completion in early 2024.Ontario Power Generation hopes to complete the refurbishment project by 2025.
