Heritage Clarington


Clarington is home to heritage buildings, structures and homes. These are scattered throughout our rural countryside and can also be found in our towns and hamlets. We take pride in our history and strive to protect our heritage. Learn more about Clarington Heritage and history.

Clarington Heritage Committee

The Clarington Heritage Committee (CHC) is a volunteer advisory committee established under the Ontario Heritage Act to preserve and protect local heritage. The committee assists the Municipality of Clarington to identify issues of cultural heritage, value and interest. The committee advises Council on issues related to cultural heritage. Heritage Incentive Grant Program

Heritage properties are often in need of maintenance and restoration. The Municipality offers a Heritage Incentive Grant Program to assist owners with the cost of repairs and restoration. Clarington offers up to 50 per cent of the costs per building, a maximum of $3,000 per owner including a maximum of $2,000 for exterior work, or $1,000 for interior work. Apply for the program by filling out the application form.
