Old Scugog Road Reconstruction

The Municipality of Clarington is reconstructing Old Scugog Road from Edmonson Avenue to Highway 407 in Hampton. The existing road is in poor condition due to an absence of adequate drainage and needs to be repaired for public safety.

The proposed work will be completed over two years, with utility relocations taking place in 2021 and road reconstruction in 2022. Utility companies will provide advance notice to property owners near the impacted utility lines to advise when they will be relocated and any impacts or temporary disruptions to utility services within the area.

The road reconstruction work includes:

  • Reconstruction of the road to allow adequate drainage to a defined roadside ditch and prevent water from draining onto private properties.
  • A semi-mountable curb in areas where the road is not wide enough for roadside ditches.
  • Local storm sewer replacements within the project area.
  • Local spot repairs of the existing sidewalk.

The proposed reconstruction design will avoid impacts to the existing sidewalk and private properties fronting Old Scugog Road as much as possible.
