Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington is pleased to announce that Deputy Fire Chief Randy Cowan has been appointed as the Acting Fire Chief.
“Randy is a dedicated and valued member of the Clarington leadership team,” said Clarington CAO Mary-Anne Dempster. “He has worked his way up through the ranks and has been the Deputy Fire Chief for the last two years.”
Acting Fire Chief Cowan has served Clarington residents for 32 years in the fire service. He will be stepping in to lead Clarington Emergency and Fire Services on December 10 until the Municipality finds a new permanent Fire Chief.
Last week, Clarington announced that former Fire Chief Mariano Perini had been recruited to a new leadership role with the Office of the Fire Marshal. The Clarington Fire Chief position is posted and is expected to be filled permanently by March 2023.
