Whitby, Ontario – Durham residents are invited to attend a virtual event for the launch of Empowering the Community: Durham Region's Nuclear Sector Strategy, 2022-2032. Durham Region is Canada’s premier centre of the nuclear industry and innovation. Join us as we celebrate the launch of the strategy by registering now for this free event on February 16 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The virtual event will include a panel discussion on the economic and environmental opportunities ahead as we transition to a net zero community, featuring:
Special guests include Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer John Henry; Durham Region’s Chief Administrative Officer Elaine Baxter-Trahair; Chief Emily Whetung, Curve Lake First Nation; Adrian Foster, Mayor, Municipality of Clarington; Dave Ryan, Mayor, City of Pickering; Steve Gregoris, VP Darlington Nuclear, Ontario Power Generation; and Dr. Daniel Hoornweg, Associate Dean, Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science, Ontario Tech University.
