Public Meetings

Our procedures have changed as we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.  As mandated by Public Health, and to maintain physical distancing, all meetings will take place electronically using an online device or phone.

Applications to amend the Clarington Official Plan and Zoning By-law to allow a nine-storey mixed-use building and 45 townhouse units at 1465 Highway 2, Courtice

Address: 1465 Highway 2, Courtice

The Municipality is seeking public input on applications to amend the Clarington Official Plan, specifically the Courtice Main Street Secondary Plan, and Zoning By-law to allow a nine-storey mixed-use building and 45 stacked townhouse units situated in five separate blocks at 1465 Highway 2 in Courtice. The nine-storey building is proposed to contain 132 residential units plus 254 square metres of ground-related commercial floor space.  The site is approximately 1.1 hectares, producing a housing density of approximately 160 units per hectare.

Recent Approvals

New Hotel Approved for Spicer Square and Baseline Road West

Address: 1 Spicer Square, Bowmanville

Site Plan approval has been granted for a six-storey Fairfield by Marriott hotel at the southeast corner of Spicer Square and Baseline Road West in Bowmanville. The 85-room hotel will have a gross floor area of 5,008 square metres (53,900 square feet) and will include an indoor pool, conference room, meeting room, and a fitness centre.

No construction schedule has been announced.

In the News

Mark Jull will be taking on the role of Planner II in Community Planning, assisting with Secondary Plans. Mark joined the Municipality in June 2018 as a contract Planner 1 assisting with research, and he became a full-time Planner 1 in Development Review in December of that year. Mark recently completed the requirements to become a Registered Professional Planner in September 2020. Mark has strong research and communication skills. He previously worked as a graduate researcher, teaching assistant and lecturer.

Toni Rubino will be taking on the role of a Planner II until June 2021. Toni joined Clarington in July of 2020, having worked for D.G Biddle and Associates Limited, a local Engineering and Planning consultant firm, for two-and-a-half years as a junior and intermediate planner. Toni recently completed the requirements to become a Registered Professional Planner in September 2020. Toni has worked in community outreach and as a teaching assistant while completing her planning studies.
