Travel Around the World in Clarington at Food Truck Alley

Food Truck Alley

Note: All trucks are open at the Food Truck Alley with COVID-19 measures in place. Please check Food Truck Alley's Facebook page for up-to-date information before you visit.

Check out Clarington’s Food Truck Alley in Hampton and take a culinary journey with stops around the world. Food Truck Alley offers lots of tasty eats, from classic Italian fare to the Caribbean's bold and spicy flavours. The Clarington Tourism team set out on a socially-distanced sampling trip, and we tried food from all six trucks. Here's what we sampled during our feast:

Deep fried rice balls filled with cheese and topped with tomato sauce.

 Cascone’s Homemade Italian Foods

We started with a stop at Cascone’s Homemade Italian Foods. You’ll find classic Italian comfort food, like pizza, lasagna and pasta made with homemade sauce. We tried the arancini (rice balls). Large portions of rice coated in breadcrumbs, filled with gooey mozzarella cheese and topped with their signature tomato sauce. You get a huge serving – enough for lunch for the next day.

Another of Cascone’s favourites is their mozzo sandwich. The mozzo is homemade pizza dough stuffed with meatballs or steak and cheese, deep-fried golden brown.

Cascone’s Homemade Italian Foods is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Check their Facebook page for changes in hours.

Fish tacos with deep-fried avocado bites

Cantina’s Mexicano

Cantina's Mexicano is a great place to visit on Friday when you can get the fish tacos special (be sure to go early, they often sell out fast). We paired it with the deep-fried avocado bites. The fish tacos were crispy and fresh, smothered with tomatoes, onions and classic slaw. The deep-fried avocado bites are a tasty mix of crunchy from the batter and smooth from the warm avocado.

We also tried the chicken chipotle dip – a warm, gooey blend of cheese, chicken and spicy chipotle with a side of crispy nacho chips for dipping (and sharing – though it was so good you may want to keep it all for yourself).

Cantina's Mexicano is open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

It's Fryday Chili Cheese Dog

It’s Fryday!

There are a lot of great choices on the menu at It's Fryday. We were craving some classic food truck fare and opted for the chili cheese dog. A tasty dog topped with lots of delicious beef chili and melted cheese made for a perfect lunch. It was enough on its own, but you could add a side of fries or deep-fried pickles if you need a little extra.

They also have other famous food trucks eats, like classic poutine made with real cheese curds, juicy six-ounce banquet burgers, a "Rings and Things" sampler plate and more.

It's Fryday is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Goat curry and coleslaw

King’s Finest Food

Travel to the Caribbean at this tasty truck. Their menu features authentic dishes such as bakes and saltfish and pepper shrimp -- a Caribbean delicacy. When we stopped by, we tried the curry goat meal. The goat is marinated for over 24 hours, resulting in meat that falls-off-the-bone and is full of flavour. It comes served with creamy coleslaw, rice and potatoes.

They also have a variety of roti, perfect for a side dish or appetizer.

King’s Finest Food is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Kroftina and Greek salad

Opa’z

For authentic Greek cuisine, head to Opa'z. We had a few different things, because why choose just one? For an appetizer, you've got to get the Greek phyllo pie. It comes served warm and flaky, with a side of tzatziki sauce for dipping. The kroftina on Greek salad is rich with flavour, topped with juicy tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives and feta in a tangy dressing. Finally, we tried the bruschetta. It comes on thick pita bread, with ripe tomatoes, feta and a drizzle of sweet balsamic. It's excellent as a shareable appetizer, or pair it with a salad for a tasty lunch.

Check Opa'z Facebook page for more information.

Big Chicken Sandwich

Talk of the Town

The newest truck at Food Truck Alley is Talk of the Town. With classics like fried chicken sandwiches and Mexican-inspired dishes like “Sucio Styx” (fries smothered in jalapenos, spicy beef, sour cream and cheese sauce), your cravings will surely be satisfied here. We heard their chicken sandwiches are a must-have, so we got the Big Chicken. You get a ton of juicy chicken, smothered in a tangy BBQ sauce, topped with lettuce, pickles, jalapenos and spicy chipotle sauce on a sesame seed bun.

Talk of the Town is open Tuesday to Sunday, 12 to 8 p.m.
