Clarington Mayor issues a statement on the Ukrainian situation: “We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all Ukrainian-Canadians.”

Clarington, Ontario –  Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“On behalf of Council and the Municipality of Clarington, I want to make it clear that we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all Ukrainian-Canadians in Ontario and Canada-wide watching the horrific events unfold in their home country. We stand united with the global community condemning this unprovoked act of aggression that has sent tens of thousands of Ukrainians fleeing their homes in fear of their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine, their families and loved ones. We call for peace and a swift end to the aggression.

Tonight, Clarington’s Municipal Administrative Centre (Town Hall) will be lit in blue to reflect one of the colours on the Ukrainian flag. We stand united with Ukraine, Єдиний з Україною.”
