Advisory Committees and Boards

Alert icon

As we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of Clarington’s advisory committees will continue to meet and work through this situation. As mandated by Public Health to maintain physical distancing, those meetings will take place in an electronic format using teleconferencing. All meetings are still open to the public through electronic participation or telephone participation. For meeting information and instructions to join, visit the individual advisory committee page and view the agenda or call or email the committee contact listed on the committee page.

The Municipality of Clarington establishes advisory committees and boards to fulfil a variety of mandates and to make recommendations to Council. Most committees include members of the public, as well as members of Council. Volunteering to sit on an advisory board or committee is one of the many ways residents can serve their community.

Selection Process

Most committees are appointed for the same four year term as Council. Shortly after the municipal election, we advertise for appointments to boards and committees. Occasionally, vacancies occur during the four-year term.

We encourage those interested in sitting on a board or committee to submit an application throughout the year. We will contact you if a vacancy occurs. You are responsible to ensure that the Municipal Clerk's Office has received your application. Council will appoint qualified applicants to vacancies based on the application submitted. We will notify all applicants of the final decision by mail.
