As we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Committee of Adjustment will continue to meet. To maintain physical distancing, these meetings will take place in an electronic format using teleconferencing. The meetings are open to the public through electronic participation or telephone participation only. For meeting information and instructions to join, view the committee agenda.
Section 45 of the Planning Act outlines the role of the Committee of Adjustment. The Committee can make decisions on applications for minor variances to the Zoning By-law.
A Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body appointed by Council. The Committee consists of six members. The Committee will elect one member to be chairperson and one to be the acting-chairperson. The Committee requires a minimum of three members to make quorum so that decisions can be made at a meeting.
The Committee of Adjustment meets on an as-needed basis, typically twice monthly. Unlike Council, there is no summer recess or election recess. The term of Committee is a four (4) year session, beginning in the New Year and following Council's selection of the Committee members.
$50.44 per meeting (2021)
