Hill Street Reconstruction

The Municipality of Clarington is planning to reconstruct Hill Street, between Reid Road and Newtonville Road, in the summer of 2021 as part of the annual pavement rehabilitation program. The existing road surface and existing storm sewer west of Newtonville Road have reached the end of their service life.

The proposed work includes:

• Resurfacing Hill Street, from Reid Road to 500 metres east (top of the hill).
• Resurfacing Hill Street, from 500 metres east of Reid Road (top of the hill) to Newtonville Road, with a rural road cross-section, including ditching.
• Removal of the storm sewer and construction of a ditch on the south side of Hill Street, from 38 metres west of Newtonville Road to 160 metres west.
• Improvements to the ditch slopes on Hill Street, from 290 metres west of Newtonville Road to Newtonville Road.
• Utility relocations where needed.
• Localized repairs to the existing sidewalk.

The proposed design will avoid potential impacts to private properties as much as possible; however, local driveway aprons will be affected. The Municipality will reinstate the driveway aprons to existing condition or better. For more information, or to provide comments, please contact:
