Update #2 – October 14, 4:30 p.m.
Clarington Emergency and Fire Services (CEFS) continued monitoring the site at the former Goodyear Lands throughout the afternoon and evening of October 13. Crews determined that the fire began on the roof, which later collapsed into the building. As a safety precaution and to help ensure the fire was fully extinguished, excavators were brought in to remove a portion of damaged wall along the north side of the building.

Clarington, Ontario — At approximately 2 a.m. on October 10, Clarington Emergency and Fire Services (CEFS) were on scene attending a collision on Highway 401 westbound near Newtonville Road when a tractor-trailer struck a fire truck that had been positioned to protect the accident scene.
Four firefighters were inside the fire truck at the time of the collision. Two firefighters were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
