The Municipal Law Enforcement Division investigates and enforces municipal by-laws such as parking enforcement, responsible pet owners, property standards, clean and clear, zoning, signs, noise, and licensing by-laws. Officers are on duty Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Municipal Law Enforcement officers and staff are committed to educating the community about the by-laws and resident responsibilities. Officers follow the Municipal Law Enforcement Policy to ensure a transparent, consistent, fair, unbiased, and effective process for the enforcement and prosecution of relevant laws.

Clarington's Municipal Law Enforcement Office is located at 2611 Trulls Road, Courtice (inside Fire Station 4).
The office is open to walk-in traffic Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the last two Saturdays of the month from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays.

How do new by-laws come into effect? What is the process? |
Proposed by-laws are brought forward to Council based on staff recommendations, either from stakeholder or resident concerns. Once approved, by-laws then become enforceable by staff. |
