From May to September 2025, crews will begin construction to improve the surface of several roads in Clarington. The work includes drainage improvements, asphalt reclamation, grading, resurfacing and slurry seal. Motorists may experience temporary lane closures, short-term road closures and delays on the affected roads.

Maplefest celebrates the start of spring and all things maple! Join in the festivities in Historic Downtown Bowmanville, from Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
King Street will be closed from Friday, May 2, 2025, at 6 p.m. to Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 7 p.m. from Scugog Street to George Street and will also include parts of Division and Temperance Streets. Detours are available via alternate local roads.

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure on Liberty Street North (Regional Road 14) in Bowmanville.
When: April 28 to July 30. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: Liberty Street North, from Pamela Court to Sydel Court, in the community of Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington.
Why: The road closure is in place for the construction of two new watermains. Traffic will be detoured for the duration of the work....

Update March 15 at 12:30 p.m. - The Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) has completed the initial stage of its investigation at the fire scene and released the properties to the owners. Demolition crews will begin working to take down the remainder of building 69-75a this weekend, as the building has been deemed unsafe. King Street West, from Scugog Street to Silver Street, will remain closed into next week.

Update March 10 at 3 p.m. - The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) is continuing their fire investigation, which is anticipated to continue through this week. To allow better access for investigation, the OFM will begin precise excavation to remove portions of some buildings, which may include front facades.
Once the investigation has concluded, decisions will be made about the structural integrity of surrounding buildings and orders will be issued to property owners to outline next steps.
