Bowmanville Valley Trail Extension to temporarily close at CN Rail overpass

For the safety of trail users, the Bowmanville Valley Trail Extension will close at the railway overpass beginning Wednesday, March 26, as CN Rail completes routine maintenance to the bridge. The closure is expected to take five days but could be delayed due to unfavourable weather conditions.

March 15 Update: Fire in Downtown Bowmanville

Update March 15 at 12:30 p.m. - The Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) has completed the initial stage of its investigation at the fire scene and released the properties to the owners. Demolition crews will begin working to take down the remainder of building 69-75a this weekend, as the building has been deemed unsafe. King Street West, from Scugog Street to Silver Street, will remain closed into next week.

Clarington Walks to temporarily relocate during construction of South Bowmanville Recreation Centre

Starting Monday, April 7, 2025, Clarington Walks will be temporarily relocated from Bowmanville Indoor Soccer while construction begins on the new South Bowmanville Recreation Centre.

Alternative walking options

• Walk indoors at other Clarington recreation facilities: The gymnasium at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex is available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7 to 9 a.m. Other facilities may be available depending on scheduled programs and bookings. Call 905-623-3379 to check for availability.

Update: Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10 a.m. – Thanks to the tireless efforts of our dedicated Public Works team and improved weather conditions, the Municipality of Clarington has declared an end to the Significant Weather Event.
