After a full day of snow clearing operations and sunshine to assist, all Clarington roads have been plowed. The seniors’ snow clearing program started this afternoon at 3 p.m. We continue to experience some challenges with sidewalk snow clearing and will be working with the contractor to ensure this work is completed meeting our standard. Works staff will continue to work tomorrow to address any areas of concern.

Clarington’s snow clearing operations started with a full staff callout at 4 a.m. With snow accumulation estimates of between 10 and 15 centimetres in certain areas, our crews are busy. As the main roads and highways are prioritized, they are in good condition. Staff will work throughout the day moving to secondary roads and local neighbourhoods. We hope to have the majority of the work completed by the end of the day, as the weather forecast is calling for an additional five centimetres this evening...

The weather conditions are changing rapidly, and the temperatures are plummeting. With an Environment Canada snowfall warning in place, our operations crews are dealing with flooding issues around the Municipality.
Please ensure that catch basins are clear of snow and ice so that all of the runoff can drain. If you can, just use a shovel to nudge anything blocking the catch basin.

The Municipality of Clarington is lifting the significant weather event declaration issued on Monday, January 17, 2022. The declaration was issued under the Municipal Act to provide Clarington with more time to deal with the aftermath of the massive snowstorm that saw more than 50 centimetres of snowfall in 18 hours.

Today's ongoing periods of snow are causing delays in our snowstorm cleanup from last Monday. Overall, the streets are in good condition. We are working to widen some roads, which will come by removing some of the snow for storage elsewhere. Snow removal in downtown Orono is now complete. Weather permitting, we hope to begin snow removal operations in downtown Bowmanville on Wednesday, January 26 at 2 a.m. If all goes as planned, snow removal in downtown Newcastle will occur on Thursday, January...
