Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is holding a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) to provide an update on the amendment to the Newcastle Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) Class Environmental Assessment (EA). Public consultation is required on the proposed solutions to provide additional sanitary sewage treatment plant capacity at the Newcastle WPCP.

As mandated by the Province under the modified step 2 regulation, Clarington has closed all recreation facilities, including the Fitness Training Centre, and cancelled all in-person group fitness classes.

The Municipality of Clarington will close all recreation facilities starting on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, as mandated by the Province under the modified step 2 regulation. Clarington’s recreation facilities will tentatively reopen following the provincially mandated 21-day closure. The date will be determined once Public Health confirms that sport facilities can reopen.
