Snow Clearing Update – Friday, February 28, 2020

Our Operations crews continue to plow roads and respond to the ongoing winter weather. Environment Canada is calling for sudden snow squalls that will result in near-zero visibility, accumulations between two to five centimetres. Temperatures are expected to range between minus 5 C and minus 14 C.  Winds are expected to drop later this evening. Temperatures are expected to rise on Monday to plus 6 C, resulting in a fast melt.

Approximately 15 to 20 centimetres of snow fell overnight, ending Thursday morning. The forecast for the next 24 to 36 hours calls for light flurries with possibly an accumulation of another one centimetre.  Temperatures are expected to hover between minus 4°C and minus 8°C with gusty winds, posing some challenges with road travel due to drifting snow.

Road clearing operations:

All staff were called in at 4 a.m. on Thursday. Our crews will continue all road clearing operations until 5 p.m....
