Clarington offers more than 20 kilometres of off-road recreational trails made of asphalt and limestone surfaces. Most municipal trails are in creek valleys and along the waterfront.
Experience the beauty of streams, wetlands and forests on the trails located in the Central Lake Conservation Areas at these locations:
You can also explore scenic trails in the Orono Crown Lands, the Ganaraska Forest and the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area.
Maps, descriptions and access points for all of Clarington’s trails are included on the Durham Region Trails Guide (PDF) and the Durham Cycling Tour Map (PDF).
A section of the Waterfront Trail in Bowmanville is closed for trail rehabilitation.
The asphalt will be replaced from Bowmanville Avenue to 50 metres west of Bowmanville Avenue. The work started on June 19 and is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to maintain our trails. Work like this helps keep our community active, engaged and connected.
