Clarington's Municipal Law Enforcement Office to reopen July 15

Clarington's Municipal Law Enforcement Office, located at 2611 Trulls Road in Courtice, will reopen to the public on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, with the following hours of service:

  • Monday to Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Closed from noon to 1 p.m.)
  • Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Closed 4 to 5 p.m.)
  • Last two Saturdays of the Month (except holiday weekends) 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Closed from noon to 1 p.m.)

Only one person will be allowed in the building at a time for the purchase of parking permits, parking ticket payments, and licensing submissions.

We ask residents with general inquires, complaint submissions, or requests for first attendances to call 905-623-3379 ext. 2105 instead of visiting the By-Law Enforcement Office in person.

Our Municipal Law Enforcement Division investigates and enforces regulatory municipal by-laws such as property standards, lot maintenance, zoning, signs, noise, parking enforcement and licensing by-laws.

Municipal Law Enforcement officers and staff are committed to educating the community about the by-laws and resident responsibilities.

If you have a Municipal Law Enforcement matter you need to deal with after our regular office hours, please call 905-623-3379 ext. 2105. An officer is on duty Monday through Friday until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Outside of these hours, please leave a message and a member of our staff will contact you the next business day.

Municipal Law Enforcement Officers primarily respond on a complaint basis, with areas of high concern proactively patrolled.
Do officers have set patrol areas?
No. Municipal Law Enforcement Officers actively patrol Clarington based on the volume of complaints we receive for a particular area.
How do new by-laws come into effect? What is the process?
Proposed by-laws are brought forward to Council based on staff recommendations, either from stakeholder or resident concerns. Once approved, by-laws then become enforceable by staff.
