Clarington, Ontario – As we mark Pride Month, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“As we prepare to raise the Pride Month flag, we come together to celebrate our incredible 2SLGBTQIA+ community here in Clarington. We can take pride in our community's commitment to ensuring that love and inclusion resonate more powerfully than prejudice and discrimination.
Pride Month is a time to celebrate and to reflect on how far we’ve come, but also a call to action. We still have work to do. Together, we must continue building a Clarington where everyone can feel free and safe to live authentically and with pride.
To the trailblazers, advocates, and allies in our community who work tirelessly to push for progress, thank you. Your passion and dedication inspire hope and create meaningful change, touching countless lives in the process. You make Clarington a place we can all be proud to call home.”
Today, Clarington Council and staff, along with community members, Durham Regional Police Service, Pride Durham, The Rotary Club of Bowmanville and Autism Home Base raised the Progressive Pride flag to mark the start of Pride month.
