Multiple roads to close on November 11 for Remembrance Day ceremonies

Join us in honouring the sacrifices and achievements of the local men and women who served in Canada’s military in times of war, military conflict and peace and those who have died since returning home from Active Service at one of the many Remembrance Day services across Clarington.

To help us honour those who served, road closures will be in effect during services in Bowmanville and Newcastle.

The following roads will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Bowmanville as we mark Remembrance...

Statement from Mayor Adrian Foster on Indigenous Veterans Day

In honour of Indigenous Veterans Day, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.

“Today, we remember the thousands of First Nations, Inuit and Metis veterans who served in Canada’s military. They protected our nation with courage and resilience, yet were excluded from Remembrance Day observances at the National War Memorial until 1995. Despite their service, many Indigenous veterans faced systemic discrimination and injustice – both during and after their time in uniform....

The Municipality of Clarington is passing by-laws to designate five properties in Bowmanville and Courtice for their architectural and historical value under the Ontario Heritage Act. The properties are:

• 19 ½ -23 King Street West, Bowmanville,
• 33 King Street West, Bowmanville,
• 192 Liberty Street North, Bowmanville,
• 175 Liberty Street North, Bowmanville, and
• 1598 Baseline Road, Courtice
