Clarington, Ontario – Clarington is proud to announce that applications are now open for the second annual Diversity Leadership Bursary, offering two graduating Clarington high school students the opportunity to receive a $1,250 bursary to support their educational and career aspirations.
This bursary recognizes students who are actively championing diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility in the community. Through their leadership and commitment to positive change, they help make Clarington a more inclusive and welcoming place for all.
“There is no greater way to invest in our future than by investing in our youth. Clarington’s Diversity Leadership Bursary is an opportunity for the community to celebrate our growing diversity, support our student leaders, and proudly proclaim the values that make Clarington a welcoming place where everyone can use their full potential to build an even better community,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.
Applications are open from May 1 to 31, 2025. Eligible students can learn more about application requirements and apply online at www.clarington.net/DiversityBursary.
“We’re thrilled that two student leaders will have the opportunity to receive support through this year’s bursaries while being recognized for their contributions to the community. Our goal is to help young leaders overcome financial barriers so they can continue making a meaningful impact. The Diversity Advisory Committee looks forward to reviewing applications and selecting recipients after submissions close on May 31," said Tenzin Shomar, Chair of Clarington’s Diversity Advisory Committee.
As part of Clarington’s 2024-27 Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Strategy, the Diversity Leadership Bursary is supported by Clarington’s Diversity Advisory Committee—an advisory group of local residents who provide guidance to Council and Municipal staff on diversity-related issues.
