Clarington, Ontario — Clarington is proud to offer inspiring new experiences through its seasonal lineup of 55+ Cultural Connections programming, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. These activities celebrate cultural heritage through art, music, dance, cooking, and storytelling, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive community for all.
“There’s something special about the way we’re coming together with this line-up of programs that celebrate the rich cultural diversity across Clarington. It’s a real ‘Together, We Are Clarington’ moment. Thanks to the Government of Canada’s generous support, our active older adults have plenty of new programs and activities to look forward to,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.

Residents came together to experience Dandiya Raas, a joyful folk dance from Gujarat, performed with colourful sticks and vibrant music.

Earlier this year, Clarington residents shared their ideas through a community survey. That input helped shape programming that reflects local interests and celebrates the community’s cultural traditions.
The Municipality of Clarington is actively pursuing valuable external funding opportunities, reducing dependency on the property tax base while supporting the delivery of meaningful municipal services. Clarington thanks the Government of Canada for supporting the delivery of engaging, inclusive programs that strengthen the community.
