Clarington is developing a bold new vision for its 34 kilometres of waterfront along Lake Ontario. Our goal? To create a vibrant, accessible, and sustainable waterfront that serves residents, welcomes visitors, and protects the environment—now and for generations to come.
“Way back in 1992, Clarington kicked off its big Waterfront Strategy. The idea was simple: bring more people to the lake, make the shoreline easier to enjoy, and add more public spaces for everyone,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster. “We’ve come a long way since then, and we’re not stopping yet. Now, we want you to help us dream even bigger and shape the waterfront vision for the next 30 years. What do you want to see at the lake for the next generation?”
Extensive public input on Clarington’s waterfront was collected in 2022 and as part of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan (PRCMP) in 2023. This collective data and community feedback helped shape the draft Vision & Guiding Principles, which will set the framework for the renewed Waterfront Strategy.
