Clarington, Ontario – As we mark National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“Today, we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, recognizing the heritage, culture, and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have shaped our land for generations.
Celebrated on the longest day of the year, this day holds deep meaning for Indigenous communities as a time for renewal, connection, and celebration of their cultures, languages and traditions.
On this special day, we reflect on our shared history, acknowledge past injustices, and make a collective commitment to combating discrimination that persists today."
