Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement at the beginning of the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur.
“Shanah Tovah. On behalf of Clarington Council, I wish everyone marking Yom Kippur a blessed day.
Today is the most sacred day of the year for the Jewish community. As the sun sets tonight, many of our residents will take time to fast, reflect, and come together in synagogue, seeking forgiveness and renewal. Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is a time for looking back on the past year and setting sights on a fresh start. For those observing, may you find harmony and goodness in the year ahead.”
