As we mark Transgender Day of Remembrance, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“Today, we honour those whose lives have been lost and impacted by anti-transgender violence. Transgender Day of Remembrance is about standing up and speaking out about the hate and violent crimes against the transgender community and showing support and advocacy for the rights of trans, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals.
Hate only tears us apart and divides our community. Let’s keep working together to make Clarington a welcoming, safe place for everyone. Everybody deserves to live just as they are, without fear of discrimination, harassment, or violence.”
