Clarington is adding refrigerated outdoor skating rinks across Clarington!
Outdoor skating rinks will provide residents of all ages with an opportunity to enjoy leisure skating on a surface that stays consistently frozen despite fluctuations in the weather, and for longer periods during the winter months. At other times of the year, the rinks will be used for a variety of leisure activities such as outdoor markets, community events, recreational sports and other programming.
The new rink, located outside Courtice Community Complex, features a refrigerated ice surface bordered by a rubber skate mat, ample lighting for evening use, covered and uncovered chairs and benches, two gas fire pits and a warming room.
The rink is open daily, from10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (weather permitting)
Rink Conditions
The outdoor ice rink at Courtice Community Complex is closed for the season. Check back in late fall for information on the winter 2025/26 season.
Read our full Outdoor Skating Rink Etiquette.
Construction is officially underway at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex as crews begin work on Clarington’s second outdoor refrigerated skating rink, which is set to open this winter. Similar to the outdoor rink in Courtice, the Newcastle rink will feature a refrigerated ice surface bordered by a rubber skate mat, plenty of seating, lighting for evening use, a gas fire pit and a warming room.
The Bowmanville refrigerated skating trail is part of phase one of the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre and is expected to be completed summer 2026. The concrete surface of the outdoor skating trail will be designed for year-round use and serve as a public gathering space for the facility. The potential uses could include an outdoor community event space or a public market area.
