To park on the road for more than three hours, including between the hours of 3 and 5 a.m., you must apply for an on-street parking permit or a temporary parking pass. On-street parking permits are available for a fee of $11.30 per week.

Application process
- Log in to the Service Clarington portal or create a new account.
- Fill out the on-street parking permit application and pay the fee.
- Staff will review your submission to ensure compliance with our on-street parking permit regulations and any other applicable regulations.
- If your application is approved, you will receive confirmation of the approval by email. If declined, we will refund the fee.
Approval is not guaranteed. On-street parking permits are only issued if the street can safely accommodate on-street parking without impeding traffic. The permit does not guarantee parking in front of the applicant's residence. We can only issue one permit per municipal address. The permit does not exempt the holder from obeying other regulations. Do not park on the street during a snow event at any time of day or night, even with a parking permit. Parking on the street during a snow event can slow down snow clearing operations, and in some cases, it can stop all snow clearing on that street. On-street parking permits are not valid during snow clearing operations and temporary parking passes will not be re-issued for another day. If you park on the street during a snow event, your vehicle may be ticketed or towed. |
| Metered parking and municipal parking lots |
Metered parkingMetered parking is available in downtown Bowmanville. You will need to pay to park at the meters during the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours, including weekends and statutory holidays, parking is free but limited to three hours. On-street parking is prohibited, all year round, between the hours of 3 and 5 a.m. Municipal parking lotsPay and display municipal parking lots are located in Bowmanville and Newcastle. Two-hour free parking is available from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., Monday to Friday and on weekends and statutory holidays. Find Municipal parking lots at the following locations:

| Temporary Parking Passes |
|
In Clarington, residents and visitors may request a temporary parking pass for up to 14 days per calendar year, per licence plate. This is to accommodate last minute visitors and overnight guests. During periods of snow clearing, temporary parking passes are not valid. Book your temporary parking pass the day you need it. If you book ahead and it snows unexpectedly, your permit will not be re-issued for another day. |
