Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.
“The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women reminds us of the tragic events at École Polytechnique on December 6, 1989, and honours all victims and survivors of gender-based violence. Sadly, this issue continues to deeply impact our community.
Intimate partner violence (IPV) remains a devastating reality, claiming lives far too often. I invite you to join us for Lives Lost, Voices Raised: Confronting the rise in intimate partner violence on December 10, at 6 p.m. at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. Together we will stand united against misogyny and gender-based violence. Clarington is committed to supporting survivors and fostering a safe, inclusive community for everyone.”
