Clarington has been busy these last few months, completing upgrades at 10 neighbourhood parks! From new playgrounds to splash pads and accessibility improvements, these projects are part of Clarington’s commitment to creating safe, accessible, and exciting spaces for residents of all ages to enjoy.
Here’s a look at what’s new (and improved!):
Brookhouse Parkette (Newcastle) – Families in Newcastle can now enjoy a refreshed and expanded outdoor play space at Brookhouse Parkette in Newcastle. This summer, crews completed construction on a new, larger play area, featuring a combination junior/senior play structure, new benches, and wood fibre safety surfacing to enhance both safety and accessibility.
Harry Gay Park (Courtice) – The splash pad at Harry Gay Park in Courtice received a facelift, with a new rubberized splash pad surface.
Longworth Park (Bowmanville) – This spring, crews installed a new rubberized splash pad surface at Longworth Park, just in time for summer fun!
Lord Elgin Park (Bowmanville) – Lord Elgin Park received exciting improvements, including a bigger play area with a play structure for all ages, swings (including an accessible swing), benches, paved pathways, a ramp, and wood fibre surfacing.
Middle Park (Bowmanville) – Clarington's brand-new Middle Park features an all-new playground, paved walkways, a shade structure, softball diamond and splash pad. Learn more about the new park.
Rose Parkette (Newtonville) – Newtonville’s new Rose Parkette features a junior and senior playground, swings, a shade structure, park pathways, seating areas, and an open green space. The design was inspired by nature, with earth-toned colours and treehouse-style elements that were top choices among residents during the consultation phase.
Rosswell Park (Courtice) – This summer, crews revitalized the Rosswell Park playground and splash pad, adding new play equipment, a new splash pad surface, updated spray features, and accessibility upgrades including an accessible swing, benches, and newly paved pathways.
Solina Park (Solina) – Solina Park received exciting upgrades, including new asphalt court surfacing with an acrylic playing surface, upgraded fencing and netting for better play and safety, and a shared basketball area with two half courts. A new play structure with wood fibre safety surface was installed in fall 2024.
Soper Creek Park (Bowmanville) – Work is wrapping up at the Soper Creek Park Baseball Diamond to replace the backstop, add new players’ benches and dugouts, and reconstruct the infield and outfield. Watch for details on the exciting reopening celebration happening next spring.
Stuart Park (Courtice) – This summer, crews completed upgrades at Stuart Park, adding a brand-new playground with junior and senior play structures, swings, benches, paved pathways, and a ramp with wood fibre surfacing for improved accessibility.
