Clarington is going cashless
As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance our service offerings, Clarington will no longer be accepting cash payments for services at the following locations, effective August 1, 2023:
- Municipal Administrative Centre
- Clarington Animal Shelter
- Municipal Law Enforcement Office
- All Fire Stations
The transition to a cashless payment process offers a modernized and safe way to complete transactions and was approved at the May 1 Council Meeting.
For safer financial transactions among residents, business owners, and employees, the Municipality will collect payments through the following methods:
- Debit (In person)
- Cheque
- Online
Clarington staff will work to accommodate individuals whose only form of payment is cash and help them transition to a modern, cashless payment system. As we begin this transition, cash will still be accepted at all recreational facilities for programs and fees until early 2024.
