Clarington Mayor's statement on Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment contract

Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.

“Clarington residents need and deserve the best possible health care close to home, so I’m thrilled that the contract has been awarded to redevelop the Bowmanville Hospital. This important step will design, finance, and build a state-of-the-art hospital for our community, paving the way for construction to begin later this autumn.

The redevelopment will modernize the hospital and more than double its size. Clarington is a proud supporter of this work, donating $7.5 million to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. Government investment is important, but ongoing community support for the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation’s ‘We Care, We Can’ campaign is still needed to fund the local share of the project and the hospital's equipment.

With everyone’s support, local health care will be transformed for generations to come. Thank you to Lakeridge Health, the Ontario government, and all those working to build a top-notch hospital right here at home.”
